Governor’s Cup Yacht Race 1998
On Monday 7th December 1998, the Post Office released a Special Cover to commemorate the second race of the “Governor’s Cup” Capetown to St Helena race.
This Special Cover features the world class 65 racing yacht “Group 4” anchored in Jamestown Harbour. Having already won the “BT Challenge” around the world race, this famous yacht represented St Helena in the Governor’s Cup yacht race and were crewed by St Helenians participating for the very first time.
As shown, the four stamps affixed to the cober are from the newly released Maritime Heritage Definitive series.
