Local food: very cheap Imported Food: expensive (and often past sell-by-date, but that's another complaint) Technology: very expensive (TV that in the UK would have cost under ?100 here could cost ?300+) Cars: shockingly expensive (more than 5 times the UK price for the equivalent) Wages: about 20-25% of the equivalent wages for the UK Housing: cheaper than the UK but a little expensive compared to local salaries Beer: cheap (?1.30/bottle) Cigarettes: far too cheap (personal non-smoker prejudice) Ride on the RMS: reasonable value for money by world standards but expensive compared to local salaries, which matters because it is the only way on or off the island. Thanks! DL'd and read the price sheets. With the exchange rate roughly $1.87 USD per British pound (UKP), the prices seem about the same as here. I'd have to go over it again though. Initially everything seemed cheaper. But I'll dig into that and figure it out. One item not listed is fuel. Diesel, propane or regular unleaded.
