I will be sure to avoid him if I ever get to California! I got the two books you mentioned on Napoleon THE MURDER OF NAPOLEON and THE EMPEROR'S LAST ISLAND from the library and am looking forward to reading them. One you might be interested in if you have not already read it is THE BLACK ROOM AT LONGWOOD , NAPOLEON'S EXILE ON ST. HELENA. by Jean Paul Kauffman. It is rather depressing as it is a commentary by a man who visited there and was himself a prisoner for 4 years in Beirut and his slant is quite personal. The book I really enjoyed the most on Napoeon is A NEAR RUN THING by David Horwich (not sure of the spelling) It is the story of Waterloo told through the letters of the soldiers who fought there . David Horwich was the curator of the Battlefield at Waterloo and that is where I bought the book and read it when I was in Brussels after having visited the battlefield. I am hoping to get to St. Helena if the price is not too steep for me. I am going to England for the month of June and am going to try to get in touch with the Napoleon Sociey there and see if they might be planning any trips. Thanks again for your e mail. Best wishes, Helen B. I am especially interested in Napy's time on St. Helena and most anything else. I copied the titles you suggested down to look for when I next go to the book store. I enjoy digging up silly stuff like the California Newt. Although it is all true, I had never heard of them until today. I looked into it and made up my little report. Most of my stuff like that is pretty tounge in cheek. Don't be afraid to write. Hope you get to England and on to St. Helena. the pictures I have seen of the island show a place that is totally unique. Hope all is well with you and yours Thank You Chuk'r -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
